I’ve had an interesting week. Lots of big ideas swirling around in my head, but nothing concrete, no words on paper, well not many words. I did write 350 words in my novel yesterday. I did not make it to the farmer’s market downtown, as I had promised myself I would. I have two reasons, one of them is a good one, and one is not what I would consider good, but I will be writing more about that later.
The “good” reason I had for not going is that my knee has been bothering me for a couple of weeks. It seems like it might be on the mend so I didn’t want to aggravate it by doing a lot of walking yesterday. Instead I spent the day listening to an audio book. I’m hooked on a new series. (Thank you, Dana Leigh Lyons!) The series is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
I enjoy listening to audio books. When I listen I have to have something else to do. I can’t just sit and listen. Taking a walk, housework, or playing a game on the computer that doesn’t require much thinking are a few of the ways I keep myself busy enough to stay focused on the story.
My new obsession is drawing and doodling. I have never considered myself an artist in the drawing or painting sense, but my skills are improving, and I find it very relaxing to draw and color while I listen to a book that grabs my attention. I’ve been using Sketchbook on my iPad for most of the drawing. I doodle a little on copier paper at work on my breaks too.
Below are this week’s doodles.
And now, enjoy another sneak peek into the novel with no name.
